Riverbanks Zoo and Garden
Riverbanks Zoo and Garden is home to nearly 2,000 animals that represent more than 350 species from around the world. The Botanical Garden boasts 70-acres of unparalleled beauty and is considered one of the America’s best public gardens. Dramatic and themed gardens showcase more than 4,300 species of native and exotic plants, providing a living classroom for gardeners and non-gardeners alike. The Garden also is the gateway to natural river views and spectacular valley overlooks.
We get the season pass every year for the zoo.
South Carolina State House
Strategically centered in downtown Columbia, the South Carolina State House is the seat of state government in South Carolina. South Carolina State Museum
The South Carolina State Museum is a state-of-the-art facility featuring four floors of permanent and changing exhibits, a digital dome planetarium, 4D interactive theater and an observatory. The museum is located in downtown Columbia, South Carolina.
Saluda Shoals Park
Saluda Shoals park has an inclusive playground, dog park, soccer fields, tennis, splash pad and trails. The playground is called Leo’s Landing and it is amazing it has:
- Treehouse Village including a roller table, balance beam, climbing and spinning elements, and a metal slide.
- Hillside Slope featuring a crawling tunnel, various slides, and a ramp connecting to the Treehouse Village.
- Swing Area featuring high back, bucket, and belt swings, as well as a wheelchair platform swing.
- Sound Garden with musical elements including chimes, drums, flowers, and a xylophone.
- Nature Play Area featuring a glider in the shape of a boat as well as trout, turtle, and frog climbing structure.
- two-way zip line with recumbent and disc seats for diverse skills and bodies
We have gone to this park numerous times and my kids love it. The last time we were there they spent over an hour on the zip line.
EdVenture Children’s Museum
EdVenture Children’s Museum in Columbia, SC is ready to take you on an interactive journey that will open doors to new ways of exploring your world. We have gone to the museum three times and each time my daughter has loved it. Her favorite parts are the Publix supermarket and the DIY creation area.

Soda City Market

Segra Park
Located in the heart of Columbia’s Bull Street district. Segra Park is a year round event. They are home to the Columbia Fireflies.
Owen’s Field Skate Park
Owens Field is one of the most unique parks in the City of Columbia. This park provides an opportunity for recreational experience for those interested in baseball, soccer, rugby and skateboarding. This park provides multi-purpose usage for athletic events and is a great place to host tournaments of all types. The park is also home to the Miracle League field and boundless playground.
We go here alot when the weather is nice. The kids bring their bikes and their scooters. They are able to ride all around the track. There is also a park on the other side.
