Synospis
Casey Fletcher a recently widowed actress trying to escape some bad press. retreats to her families lake house in Vermont. She passes the time by spying on the neighbors with binoculars and liquor. The neighbors are Tom and Katherine Royce and live in the glass house across the lake. Tom is rich and Katherine is a gorgeous former model.
One day on the lake, Casey saves Katherine from drowning, and the two strike up a friendship. But the more Casey watches the Royce’s the more she realizes there “happy” marriage isn’t what it seems to be. When Katherine suddenly vanishes, Casey becomes consumed with finding out what happened to her.
Review
Casey made the mistake most people do after suffering a personal tragedy; she went for the bottle to numb the pain. She struggles to focus on anything until she finds the binoculars. Across the lake is a massive modern home recently purchased by Tom and Katherine Royce. After Katherine nearly drowns in the lake, the two strike up a friendship.The more they speak and the more she spies on them, the more she realizes something doesn’t feel right.
Then one day Katherine suddenly vanishes and Casey vows to find out what happened. Tom says she left and went back to NY. Casey doesn’t believe that she would just pick up and leave. Casey becomes obsessed about finding out what happened.
I loved this book. The setting and the characters were fantastic. The thought of Casey all alone on the lake in this big house was haunting. Especially since that was where she last saw her husband. Sager spaced out the reveals perfectly, kept me interested. I began to learn and to understand Casey’s character. The ending of this book was completely over the top and caught me by complete surprise.
