Summer Checklist
Summer Checklist
What is on your summer checklist? I am off with the kids for the entire summer starting in less than 1 week. I am looking forward to doing some beach days in Charleston, pool days in our backyard and just some lazy days. Here are some of my summer checklist ideas:
1. Go to the beach in Charleston
We have lived in SC for almost 3 years and still have not been to Charleston. I definitely want to walk around Charleston and go to the beach with the kids.
2. Play board games
My kids love playing board games and my daughter’s favorite is candy land, chutes and ladders, connect four and guess who. My son’s favorite games are chutes and ladders, battleship and connect four. I love how my kids get very competitive playing these games.
3. Have tons of pool days
We have a huge inground pool in our backyard with a waterfall. I love reading a book in my lounge chair and having a drink. My daughter and I love having dive toy races to see who can get the most. My son loves to play basketball in the pool. We love playing in the pool.
4. Watch of bunch of TV
Its summer time, don’t feel guilty about watching some TV shows. The whole thing about summer is too slow down and relax. I am a big fan of the old shows like I love lucy, The Odd Couple and The Honeymooners.
5. Getting a massage
I haven’t had a massage in a few years. I received two gift certificates for a massage. Taking the time out to relax is just what I need.
6. Read a bunch of books
I started reading a lot a few years ago. But lately I have been reading about a book or 2 a week, I get so into them I just can’t put them down. I love reading them during the day by the pool or in bed at night time. Here are some of my favorite books:
7. Have a girls night
I want to invite some of my friends over and we can sit by the pool or in the sunroom and have some appetizer and a drink. All my friends have kids and very hectic lives. We need a night kid free where we can just hang out and talk.
8. Watch a movie from when you were little
My kids really enjoy modern day movies but I try to get them to watch movies from when I was a kid. Like Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead, Grease or Honey I Shrunk the Kids.
9. Just add water
Jump in the pool, the hose or the ocean. This works for adults and kids as well.
10. Go to the Zoo
I am planning on taking the kids to the zoo over the summer. They have a splash pad also. I have the season pass, so we can go as often as we want to.
11. Cruise to Bahamas
My family has never been on a cruise before and I wanted them to experience it. We are leaving out of Charleston the beginning of June and will be away for 5 nights. There are tons of restaurants and activities for the kids to do. There are pools and water slides. I booked an excursion in the Bahamas, hopefully they will enjoy that.
