A Stranger on the Beach by Michelle Campbell

Caroline Stark is very content with her life. She has a husband of over 20 years and a beautiful daughter. All is great until he starts acting distant, comes home late and is hard to reach. She throws a big a party and he shows up with another woman. When she confronts him, he leaves with the other woman and leaves Caroline devastated. Caroline stops at a bar and sees Aiden Callahan, the bartender. She has seen him before looking up at her beach house. He was also the bartender working her party. Caroline can’t stop thinking about how attractive his is and how her husband betrayed her. They have a wild night together. Which she believes is a one-night stand. Aiden then becomes obsessed with her; or does he? There are two different stories being told. One by Aiden and one by Caroline; but which one is the truth?

I really enjoyed this book. The story kept me very entertained, and it had a twist ending. Its hard to discuss without spoiling it. I would definitely read his one.

Our House by Louise Candlish

When Fiona Lawson comes home to find strangers moving into her house, she’s sure there’s been a mistake. She and her estranged husband, Bram, have a modern co-parenting arrangement: bird’s nest custody, where each parent spends a few nights a week with their two sons at the prized family home to maintain stability for their children. But the system built to protect their family ends up putting them in terrible jeopardy. In a domino effect of crimes and misdemeanors, the nest comes tumbling down.

Now Bram has disappeared and so have Fiona’s children. As events spiral well beyond her control, Fiona will discover just how many lies her husband was weaving and how little they truly knew each other. But Bram’s not the only one with things to hide, and some secrets are best kept to oneself, safe as houses.

I really loved this book. This book is a bit of a roller coaster ride. It goes back and forth between Bram and Fiona talking. I can’t imagine coming home one day to find someone else has moved in to your house and all of your possessions are gone. The author did a great job of creating empathy through Fiona’s emotions and her connection to her ex- husband, Bram. The book was written in two perspectives. Fiona’s through a podcast and Bram’s through a word doc. This was a unique way to tell a story and it was skillfully put together. In some ways I think Fi was too forgiving of her husbands cheating ways but I felt she was doing that for the love and welfare of her children.
