Synposis
Layken is an eighteen-year-old girl who is going through a rough time. Her dad just passed away and her family moved from Texas to Michigan. Layken is trying to be strong for her mother and younger brother. Layken meets 21-year-old Will who lives next door. He has an attraction and a passion for slam poetry and has a unique sense of humor. After meeting Will, Layken has a renewed sense of hope.
They had an intense, heart stopping first date until they are slammed to the core when a shocking revelation that will put a halt to their relationship. Their daily interactions become painful as they struggle to deal with their feelings and what is right.
My review
I loved this book for so many reasons. Will and Lake were wonderfully refreshing characters. They were realistic, smart and not annoying. I surprisingly loved the slam poetry. I loved the intensity between Will and Lake. No matter how hard they tried to stay away from each other, the more their intensity grew.
Will’s parents passed away and he is taking care of his brother. Layken is going through a rough patch, and it is about to get worse when she thinks her mom has met another man. But unfortunately that is not the secret that her mother is carrying.
This book is about love, loss, life and death. Lake and Will have had their fair share of death and loss. Will they find a way back to each other?
I loved this book, and it is a must read. I just started reading the sequel……I can’t wait to read more about Lake and Will.
