Synopsis
Regretting you starts with 17 year old Morgan spending the summer with her boyfriend Chris, her sister Jenny and her boyfriend Jonah. Morgan has silent feelings for Jonah and is a mother figure for Jenny. Morgan finds out she’s pregnant.
The book then jumps to Morgan and Chris’ daughter Clara is 16 years old. Clara has an immediate connection to Miller Adams, a classmate. Jenny and Jonah broke up years ago and Jonah vanished. But that her and Jonah had a one night stand and she is pregnant and they are getting married. Jenny doesn’t want Clara to make the same mistakes she has made.
Jenny has her baby. Morgan and Chris work at a local hospital. Jonah is a teacher at Clara’s school. Morgan gets a phone call that Chris was in a car accident. Unaware that Jenny was also in the car accident, Morgan arrives at the hospital and is surprised to see Jonah.Jonah and Morgan try to figure out why Chris and Jenny were driving together. And that Jenny had lied about having to go back to work.
Does Chris and Jenny survive the car accident? Why were they driving together? Was there more going on with Chris and Jenny? What are the real feelings that Jonah and Morgan have for each other?
My opinion
I enjoyed how the beginning of the book starting with Morgan and how she took care of Jenny and got pregnant at 17. It shows the dynamic of Morgan’s life.I wondered why after she announced she was pregnant did Jonah up and vanish without a trace.
I understand why Morgan stayed with Chris. She did love him and they did share a child together. But she seemed to always have had feelings for Jonah. Especially when she was talking about them in high school on the raft. When she went to fall off and Jonah caught her. The feeling she felt when Jonah touched her. It was an intense feeling that she never felt from Chris.
I loved the part when Jonah and Morgan kiss and she said that she had been kissing the wrong person all her life. After all they had been through, I loved the connection that they felt for each other. I did love this book. I was truly hoping that Morgan and Jonah would get together in the end and raise the baby.
