My Reading Material for July

I read three books in July, and they were great reading material. I was off from work and read a lot by the pool and at the beach…which was awesome.

The Unwelcomed Child (V.C. Andrews)

Raised in seclusion by fundamentalist grandparents who claim she is an evil product of her mother’s sinful mistake, teenager Elle Edwards finally learns the truth about her conception and struggles with profound feelings of insecurity while pursuing a relationship with a vacationing boy.

I thought the book was good and it had a twist for an ending.

The Wish (Nicholas Sparks)

1996 was the year that changed everything for Maggie Dawes. Sent away at sixteen to live with an aunt she barely knew in Ocracoke, a remote village on North Carolina’s Outer Banks, she could think only of the friends and family she left behind . . . until she meets Bryce Trickett, one of the few teenagers on the island. I loved this book. I love how she was telling the story to her new employee/friend. It kept going back from 2019 to 1996. Loved it !!!

Beneath the Attic (V.C. Andrews)

Two generations before Corinne Foxworth locked her children in an attic, her grandmother, a gorgeous young girl named Corrine Dixon, is swept away by the charms of rich, sophisticated, and handsome Garland Foxworth. After discovering that Corrine is pregnant, Garland does what appears to be the honorable thing and marries her in a huge ceremony on the luxurious Foxworth Hall grounds. Both families fervently overlook the pregnancy, happy for a suitable resolution.

Now the mistress of a labyrinthine estate, Corrine discovers that nothing is what is seems. Garland is not the man once captivated by her charms, and she’s increasingly troubled by his infatuation with memories of his departed mother.

Can Corrine survive this strange new life?

I loved this book. It is a tie in book with The Flowers in the Attic series. It gives you perspective on characters you don’t read about in The Flowers in the Attic series.
