How do you know when your done having kids?
I know some women feel this way. How do you know when your done having children? I have a 10 year old boy and a 7 year old girl. I am 40 years old, I will be 41 next month. Should I have more kids? Why did I stop at 2 kids? I would be lying if I said I don’t think about it.
My kids:
I love the infant stage. When I see babies sometimes I get that feeling like I want to have another one. I miss holding them and dressing them. But then I go back to reality. My 10 year old is a very active ADHD boy who is constantly on the go. I am always at the doctors office with him or on the phone with his teacher. He has behavioral issues at home and academic issues at school. We are still trying to find the right medication for him. My 7 year old is very active. She is good in school and loves sports. Currently she is in gymnastics🤸♀️ and soccer⚽ . She also models, so sometimes we have to travel for her modeling.
My pregnancies:
Then I go think back to my pregnancies. With my son the pregnancy was great, I had no issues until 38 weeks. I developed a pain in my abdomen and called the doctor. I was sent to the office and then to the hospital. After tests were done, I was in HELLP syndrome( a life threatening pregnancy complication where liver enzymes are elevated and you will have low platelets, its a variant of preeclampsia). A few hours later I had to have an emergency c-section or we both could have died. Thankfully after the delivery the baby and I were good. That was a very traumatic experience for me.
With my daughter, I was already high risk due to the HELLP syndrome in my last pregnancy. I failed the glucose test and was gestational diabetic throughout my pregnancy. That required frequent glucose testing up to 4 times a day and having to see a nutritionist. Then I started getting bad heart palpitations and had to see a cardiologist. I had to wear a halter monitor for a few days. I was having episodes of SVT (an irregularly fast or erratic heart beat) but due to my asthma I was unable to take any medication. It would all of a sudden feel like my heart was racing out of my chest (like Ihad just ran a marathon). After I hit my 3rd trimester I had to be seen in the office for weekly visits until delivery. I delivered her at 39 via c-section with no complications.

How do you know when your done having kids? On top of everything else my husband is 20 years older than me. He was in his 50’s when both of our kids were born. We did talk about it after our daughter was born and he did not want any more kids. Even though now there are times where I want another one but then I think about the life I have now and 2 kids is perfect for us💓💓
