Synopsis
Beyah Grim has had a rough life filled with poverty and neglect. She received a full ride to Penn State on a volleyball scholarship. Two months before she is due to leave for college, an unexpected death leaves her homeless. She is forced to spend the remainder of the summer in Texas with a father she barely knows.
She moves in with her father, stepmother and stepsister which has never met before. Beyah just wants the summer to pass by and to remain invisible. She wants nothing to do with the handsome, wealthy Samson, who lives next door. He could never understand what she has been through, seeing as he is a man of privilege.
But they have an immediate connection that is hard for them to deny. But their futures are heading them to opposite ends of the country. Beyah and Samson decide to keep their romance as a summer fling. But they are soon to realize that a rip current is about to drag their hearts out to sea.
My Review
Heart Bones is a romantic novel. I felt bad for Beyah, living in a trailer park with her drug addict mother. After a death she is homeless and decides to call her father, who she barely knows. She actually forgot he got married and has a stepdaughter close to her age. I adored her stepsister Sara, she seemed to really want to get to know Beyah. I didn’t love Samson in the beginning, but he grew on me as the book progressed.
This book is everything you would expect from a Colleen Hoover book. It was sad and had some dark characters and mysterious storylines. Beyah and Samson have this undeniable connection, but they know that it cannot continue after summer is over. But then something happens that will change their lives forever. I would highly recommend this book.
