Tzatziki, also known as tarator or cacık, is a dip, soup, or sauce found in the cuisines of Southeast Europe and the Middle East. It is made of salted strained yogurt or diluted yogurt mixed with cucumbers, garlic, salt, olive oil, sometimes with vinegar or lemon juice, and herbs such as dill, mint, parsley and thyme.
Ingredients for Tzatziki sauce
- 1 cup plain green yogurt
- 1/2 large cucumber finely diced
- 2 tsp minced garlic
- 1/2 Tbsp dill weed
- 1 and 1/2 tsp lemon juice
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions for Tzatziki sauce
Combine the greek yogurt, cucumber, garlic, dill weed, lemon juice, salt and pepper in a bowl and mix well.
