Best at Home Date Ideas
Best at home date ideas
Every couple needs to spend quality time together. Dates outside can be expensive, but it doesn’t have to be. Instead of going out, having a stay-at-home date night is a great way to save money. Whether you want a romantic feel or a fun evening there is something for both of you.
If you have kids, you can either wait until bedtime or get a babysitter (that can watch your kids somewhere else). There are a lot of budget friendly date ideas in my article. Most dates consist of dinner and drinks; there are plenty of ways to incorporate this into your home date night ideas.
Make Dinner Together
Many date nights include going to dinner at a restaurant. What about making dinner at home? Try making a new dish or make one of your favorite meals together. It doesn’t have to be a fancy dinner, just something you will both enjoy.
Have a Picnic
Picnics can be indoor and outdoor. If the weather is bad or you just don’t have the room outside; throw a blanket on the floor in your living room and have a picnic. Having an indoor picnic is easy but you need to plan accordingly. Plan time for shopping.
If you are able to an outdoor picnic, do it! Lay a blanket outside and pack your picnic basket with some yummy treats. Grab a bottle of your favorite wine and enjoy your evening.
Pizza and Wine Night
The perfect date night can be as simple as easy as ordering your favorite pizza and your best bottle of wine.
Do a Puzzle
Doing a puzzle can bring you closer together. Have a nice dinner and take out the 1000-piece puzzle and try and conquer it together.
Video Game Night
Having a video game night could be lots of fun; could bring out your inner child. Playing Mario Party or Mario Kart could be blast.
Play a Board game or card game
What is your favorite board game? I love playing battleship, scattergories, chutes and ladders and candy land. We love playing card games such as gin rummy. I set out a cheese platter and open a nice bottle of wine. We literally can play games for hours. This could also be a good idea for a double date.
Some ideas for game night:
- rummy
- gin
- war
- chess
- backgammon
- battleship
- uno
- scrabble
Binge Watch your Favorite Netflix TV Shows
A great date night would be to order some take out from your favorite restaurant and snuggle on the couch with a blanket and binge watch netflix.
Some great netflix TV shows:
- Dead to Me
- Sweet Magnolias
- Sex Life
- You
- Wednesday
- Lucifer
- Stranger Things
- The Walking Dead
- Virgin River
Take out by Candlelight
This is an romantic date idea. Order take out and have it on the dining room table by candlelight. This is a very romantic stay at home date night.
Turn your bedroom into a luxury hotel
Staying at a hotel always makes you feel relaxed and luxurious. That might not be in your budget, you can always turn your bedroom into a fancy hotel room for the night. My husband and I have done this plenty of times…this is our favorite.
We have a huge jacuzzi tub in our masterbath. We fill it up with hot water, add some suds and turn on the jets. Dim the lights and enjoy your time together.
Here are some ideas:
- put on some soft music
- light some scented candles
- place a bottle of champagne/wine in an ice bucket by the bed
- sprinkle rose petals on the bed
- indulge in some chocolate covered strawberries
- order in food and eat it in bed
- watch movies in bed

- Aruba
- Dominican Republic
- Cruise
- Turks and Caicos
- Jamaica
