Synopsis

Interesting Facts
- This is the second film in the Avatar series; more sequels are in the making therefore delaying the release of the second film.
- The film started filming in August 2017 and ended in 2020 after 3 years of shooting.
- The second film continues the mix of sci-fi and eco-politics – returning to the planet Pandora where the Na’vi characters struggle to fend off rapacious humans – as well as the groundbreaking use of 3D and cutting-edge cinematic wizardry that made the original such a box office hit.
- Director James Cameron wanted a new camera for Avatar 2. Cameron’s production company Lightstorm Entertainment & SONY together developed a new camera called SONY Venice. It is SONY’s first full-frame digital motion picture camera at the time of its release and was used with 3D stereoscopic rigs for maximum versatility.
- Avatar 2 is releasing in China, making it one of the few Hollywood blockbusters to be granted permission to release in 2022 as they banned Hollywood movies
- The film is 192 minutes long (3 hours and 12 minutes)
- Some of the characters had to hold their breath for 5-7 minutes while underwater. Kate Winslet performed all her own stunts and held her breath for 7.5 minutes.
- James Cameron said this is not the last film. This will be a franchise with a plan for a new movie coming out every other year.
- All the main actors for Avatar 2: The Way Of Water had to train extensively in the art of free-diving because using scuba equipment would’ve interfered with the mo-cap technology.
Review of Avatar: The Way of Water
After waiting 13 years for this movie, Avatar the Way of Water had my jaw on the floor the entire time. It is an insanely ambitious and groundbreaking movie. The scenes were absolutely breathtaking from Pandora, underwater and the rain scenes. The visual effects are unreal. I could not take my eyes off the screen. The ocean scenes blew my mind. All the creatures and organisms are absolutely stunning. The organisms are so beautifully animated and looks so real as though the place actually existed. I loved Payakan, the giant whale, he was an excellent addition to this film.
The bond the family had was amazing. They loved each other and were there for each other during the entire movie. Sully and Neytiri are concerned with protecting their clan, but their main concern is their children.
The movie was long over 3 hours long. My husband and I took both of my kids ages 8 and 10. As soon as the movie was over both of my kids said it was the best movie ever and that they want to see it again. I would highly recommend watching this movie. I did not see it in 3D but the reviews in 3D were amazing,
