Are you looking for suspense movies?
Suspense is a is a broad film genre that evokes excitement and suspense in the audience. If you love thrillers, you probably enjoy mysterious plots, suspicious characters, and being on the edge of your seat. Thrillers are known for being exciting and sometimes scary, evoking emotions like anticipation, fear, and suspense.
Night Swim
This movie is on Peacock. Baseball legend Ray Waller is forced into retirement due to an MS diagnosis. He and his family move into a new house with a swimming pool. But unaware to them, the pool hides a deadly entity. This movie has some mixed reviews but I actually really enjoyed this movie. I wouldn’t say it’s a horror movie but more of a suspense. It made me jump a few times. It was overall a good movie.
Frozen
A typical day on the slopes turns into a chilling nightmare for three snowboarders when they get stranded on the chairlift before their last run. As the ski patrol switches off the night lights, they realize with growing panic that they’ve been left behind, dangling high off the ground with no way down. With the resort closed until the following weekend and frostbite and hypothermia already setting in, the trio is forced to take desperate measures to escape off the mountain before they freeze to death.
I really enjoyed this movie. The best films are when innocent people are plunged into mind blowing circumstance beyond their control. It gets you thinking; what would you do if you were in their place? Would you stay on the lift and wait for help? But possibly die from hypothermia and frostbite. Or would you jump off? You could break a bone and there are wolves below you.
247*
Four friends travel to a lakeside cabin for a carefree weekend, the fun turns into a nightmare when 3 of them end up locked in a hot sauna. Every minute counts and every degree matters as they fight for their lives in the heat up to 247°F.
I think the movie was okay. The premise seemed a little far fetched. The movie had little development and when they got to the sauna it seemed to stop and is was about an hour of screaming, crying and repeating the same thing over and over. I think it was a little predictable. It was one and done for me.
47 Meters Down Uncaged
Two sisters join their two classmates on a cave dive to explore submerged ruins, only to find themselves hunted by a shark with heightened senses. I really enjoyed this movie. I enjoyed the shark scenes and the underwater cave. This movie was intense and action packed in my opinion.
M3GAN
M3GAN is a marvel of artificial intelligence, a lifelike doll that’s programmed to be a child’s greatest companion. She was invented by Gemma, a brilliant roboticist. M3Gan can listen, watch and learn. She plays a role as friend, teacher and protector. Gemma gets custody of her 8 year old niece and gives her the M3GAN prototype. Nevertheless, her decision leads to unimaginable circumstances thus out of her control.
My daughter and I loved this movie. The doll itself was very real-like. She walks and talks like an actual child. With her piercing blue eyes and cute voice, she is the new iconic villain for a whole new generation.
Girl Gone
This movie stars Ben Affleck. Nick Dunne played by Ben Affleck becomes the prime suspect in the sudden disappearance of his wife Amy. On their 5th wedding anniversary Nick Dunne returns home to find his wife Amy missing. I loved this movie. The plot was great and kept you wondering was Amy really dead? Did Nick actually kill her? Or was she was alive and well somewhere else?
Fractured
While driving back from visiting the wife’s parents a couple stop at a gas station. The daughter gets distracted by a dog after she leaves the bathroom. Ray throws a rock at the dog and the daughter accidently falls into a pit. Attempting to save his daughter, Ray also falls into the pit and hits his head. His wife reaches them and they believe the daughter fractured her arm. They rush her to the hospital.
The daughter is taken for a head CT to rule out a head injury. The mother goes with her. Ray falls asleep in the waiting room. He awakes and asks to see his wife and daughter and is told there is no such record. The nurse states that Ray came in alone and had his head sutured. Ray goes on a mission to find is wife and daughter.
I really liked this movie. I have actually watched it a few times. It makes you wonder where are his wife and daughter? Did they actually come with him into the hospital? Are the people in the hospital really out to get him?
The Vanishing
This movie is from 1993, there is a remake but I would much rather watch this version. It is still one of my favorites. This movie stars Keifer Sutherland, Sandra Bullock and Jeff Bridges. The couple are driving and stop at a gas station. She goes inside to get drinks. After a few minutes when she still hasn’t returned, he goes inside. She is not inside.
For 3 years, he is torn up by her disappearance. His obsession gets the better of him; he decides he has to find out what happened to her. Finally he is contacted by the man who abducted the wife, who agrees to satisfy the husband’s curiosity – but only if the husband is willing to undergo the same experience as his wife.
Identity
Stranded at a desolate Nevada motel during a nasty rain storm, ten strangers become acquainted with each other when they realize that they’re being killed off one by one. This movies stars John Cusack, Amanda Peete and Ray Liotta. However; this movie had a lot of twists and turns. It kept me on the edge of my seat. I would recommend this movie.
