A Sunday Routine For a Great Start To Your Week
A Sunday Routine For a Great Start To Your Week
I always thought when I was younger that if I just enjoyed my Saturday and Sunday, I would be happy for the rest of the week. But that was far from the truth. Now I realize that it is how you prepare on Sunday for the upcoming week, that determines how easy your week will be.
Sunday routines help with having a great week. Some easy Sunday habits will set you up for a productive week that can be less calm and less overwhelming. Some ideas for Sunday’s are:
- meal prepping
- meal preparing
- do laundry
- check emails
- outline important things for the week
- have lunches and snacks for the kids
- pick out clothes for the week
- go to bed early
Create a Sunday Routine
Having a routine for Sunday can be a game changer and help you have a peaceful week. You need to create a schedule that works best for you. I like to do my laundry and meal prepping in the morning. Then I will clean some high traffic areas so these do not need to be done during the week.
Meal planning for the week
If you plan out your meals for the week on Sunday then each night you don’t have to figure out what is for dinner. We usually eat out once a week. I try and plan for 6 dinners or less dinners with some leftovers, depending on what I make.
Go food shopping
I usually go food shopping on Saturdays or Sundays for the upcoming week. Once I know the meals that I want to cook, I will go buy all the ingredients.
Meal Prepping
This is where you prepare some of you meals in advance. If I make casseroles or dinners such as chicken stir fry, pepper steak, swedish meatballs or stuffed peppers. These can be made on Sundays and then it can be heated up during the week. If I am planning pasta, pizza or steak for dinners. Those I will just make sure I have all the ingredients and cook those on a specific night. Sometimes I even make a double batch and freeze it for another time. This makes life so much easier.
Outline important things for the week
Such as doctor appointments, counseling appointments and any sports activities. I check and see what homework, tests or projects the kids have. My son plays soccer and my daughter plays soccer and gymnastics. I make sure I have all their equipment ready and outfits cleaned and ready, I don’t want to have to search for it the day of their practice. A Sunday Routine For a Great Start To Your Week
Get some fresh air
Spending time outside can be a great way to boost your energy and center yourself. On Sundays I try and have my coffee outside. I love to take the kids to the park or go for a walk and have some family time.
Do Laundry
I try and do our laundry on Saturday and Sundays. Between working, cooking, homework and sports during the week, there is little time for laundry.
Check emails
I go through all my emails work and home plus all the spam. It helps to clean all of that up on the weekends.
Have lunches and snacks ready for school
I will ask my kids what lunches they want for the week. Sometimes it’s sandwiches other times its lunchables. I try and have everything organized in the fridge. ALong with their drinks. This makes for packing lunches in the morning a breeze.
Spend some quality time with family and friends
Sunday’s are the perfect day to reconnect with friends and family. Our lives during the week can be very chaotic and we can overlook our friends. We have friends over almost every Sunday. The kids play and the adults eat and watch tv. In the summer time I have a bunch of people over to go swimming.
Take a break from social media
Social media such as facebook, twitter, instagram and tik tok has taken a major impact on mental health. People are obsessed with scrolling through other people’s lives. Take Sunday off and just enjoy the day with your family social media free.
Pick out clothes for the week
I pick out both of kids clothes for the week. It makes the mornings so much easier. I even pick out my own work clothes for week.
Relaxing time
On Sunday nights I try and have some relaxing time. I will take a hot bath in my jacuzzi tub with a glass of wine and just relax.
