Cancer is when abnormal cells divide uncontrollably and have the ability to infiltrate and destroy normal body tissue. In 2015, my good friend was diagnosed with stage 4 Colon Cancer at only 39 years old. She was having some stomach issues and went for a routine visit to the doctor. She did chemo and radiation but unfortunately passed away 11 months later; leaving behind a husband and 3 young boys.
My mom was diagnosed with stage 3 Lung Cancer in late 2018. She did chemo and radiation but unfortunately it did not work. It quickly progressed to stage 4 and then she passed away in 2019 at the age of 69. Cancer is a horrible disease. 12 Stars That Passed Away From Cancer:
Patrick Swayze
Patrick was a popular actor, dancer and singer. He is most popular for his role in “Dirty Dancing” opposite actress Jennifer Grey. His other roles include Road House, Ghost and Point Break. He also sang a popular song “She’s like the wind”. In 2008, he was diagnosed with stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. He battled the disease for almost 2 years. He unfortunately passed away in 2009 at the age of 57.
Kelly Preston
Kelly was a popular actress. She is best known for her role in “Twins” opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny Devito. She also had a role in Jerry Maguire and others. Kelly was married to actor John Travolta for many years. She died in 2020 at the age of 57 from Breast Cancer. She had been battling cancer for 2 years.
Olivia Newton- John
Olivia was a British and Australian singer, actress and activist. She was best known for her role in Grease, opposite John Travolta. She also starred in Xanadu and Two of a Kind. Olivia was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992 and battled with it for over 30 years and passed away in 2022 at the age of 73.
Desi Arnaz
Desi was a Cuban actor, musician, comedian, bandleader and producer for the famous TV show in the 1950’s “I Love Lucy” playing Ricky Ricardo. He starred in I Love Lucy with his real life wife actress Lucille Ball. He was married to Lucille Ball for 21 years and had 2 children. Desi passed away in 1986 at the age of 69 from Lung Cancer.
Beatrice Arthur
Beatrice was an actress and comedian. She was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She is best known for her roles in Maude and as Dorothy Zbornak on the sitcom, The Golden Girls in the 1980’s. Beatrice passed away in 2009 at the age of 86 from Lung Cancer.
Kirstie Alley
Kirstie was an American actress. Her breakout role was as Rebecca on the sitcom “Cheers”. She is famous for her role in “Look Who’s Talking” opposite John Travolta. She also starred in Veronica’s Closet, Dancing with the stars and the Masked Singer. Kirstie passed away in 2022 after a recent diagnosis of Colon Cancer at the age of 71.
David Bowie
David was an English singer, songwriter and actor who sold over 100 million records worldwide. He stared in a few films such as “Labyrinth” and “The Man Who Fell to Earth”. He was a 4 time grammy winner and married to actress/model Iman. David passed away in 2016 at the age of 69 from Liver Cancer.
Bud Abbott
Bud was an American comedian, actor and producer. He was most famous for playing the “straight man” to Lou Costello in the Abbott and Costello comedy partnership in the 1940’s and 1950’s. They co-starred in a series of movies such as Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein. He is also famous for the comedy skit “Who’s on First” with Lou Costello. Bud passed away in 1974 at the age of 78 of Prostate Cancer.

As a film producer, he holds the record for most Academy Awards earned by an individual, having won 22 Oscars. He built Disneyland theme park and Walt Disney World. He passed away in 1966 from Lung Cancer.

Best known for her iconic swimsuit poster and as one of the original stars of the TV show “Charlie’s Angels;” was a six-time Golden Globe nominee. Also starred in the TV miniseries’ “Small Sacrifices,” “Poor Little Rich Girl: The Barbara Hutton Story,” and “The Burning Bed”. She passed away in 2009 from Anal Cancer.
Fred Gwynne
Fred was a talented actor. He is most famous for his TV series Car 54 Where Are You? and The Munsters starring as Herman Munster. His movies roles include My Cousin Vinny and Pet Semetary. He passed away in 1993 at the age of 66 from Pancreatic Cancer.
Dustin Diamond
Dustin was best known for playing Samuel “Screech” Powers on the hit show Saved by the Bell. In 2021 he passed away at the age of 44 from Lung Cancer shortly after being diagnosed.
